Meet the Bard’s Bytes Owners and design team, Stewart and Sarah Shelley.
Stewart has 14 years’ experience teaching the performing arts. He is a Master Teacher. Stewart, who holds a B.A. in Theater Arts Education from Brigham Young University and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, has long been involved in theater and music having taught at Pleasant Grove High School in Utah, for 14 years. He has trained in voice and diction with Barbara Rubin at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, and Shakespeare and the Arts with Fred Adams at Southern Utah University. Stewart has also worked with the Tony award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival. Stewart has a passion for teaching and a love for all things theatrical.
Sarah has a passion for creating. Sarah has spent the past 2 years fine tuning her visual art skills teaching Elementary Art to “amazing artists” in 1st – 6th Grade. Sarah loves to work with any and all mediums and joys in seeing young artists get that “spark of creation.” Sarah is also a very talented vocalist and teaches students of all ages and abilities. Sarah has performed in many productions on a variety of stages throughout Utah. Sarah is also a self-taught web designer and graphic designer. She has an insatiable appetite for learning and often spends her spare time on Skillshare, YouTube, Coursera, or any other educational platform learning new skills.
In 2017, after 14 FANTASTIC years as a public high school drama teacher, Stewart quit his “dream job” and he, Sarah, and their two boys moved from Utah, where they were both born and raised, to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. You can read more about that here.
Bard’s Bytes was created because the Shelley’s have a love for theatre, Shakespeare, and creating. Shakespeare is very relevant for our day AND Shakespeare is for EVERYONE! Not just for literary scholars, perfect performers, or those who seem to have been alive with Shakespeare! Bard’s Bytes is for the person so tired with the political climate they want to make the statement “A Plague O’ Both Your Houses!” or for the person who really DOES want to say to the world “Tis Known I am a Pretty Piece of Flesh!” No matter who you are or what your knowledge about Shakespeare might be – you are welcome here!
So take a look around…find yourself in our designs, or perhaps you have an idea that needs to be created. Connect with us via our Contact Form with your request and we will make it happen!
